Description - Pillsbury State Park has a diverse habitat for a great variety of wildlife, including moose and loons. Crossed by a network of hiking and mountain bike trails, the park is an important link in the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway, a 51-mile hiking trail that connects Mount Monadnock with Mt. Sunapee to the north. Day-use amenities include fishing from several ponds, picnicking and viewing historical remnants. A campground and several remote primitive sites are available.

Recreation - Canoeing, warm-water fishing, picnicking, hiking and mountain biking are favorite park activities. History buffs enjoy exploring the park's long-abandoned and overgrown mill sites and cellar holes, remnants of early farm settlement and lumbering of the late 1700's and early 1800's when the area was called Cherry Valley. Day-use fees are $2.50, children 11 & under free. A campground and group camping area are available. Camping fees are $13 per site. There are also several canoe-to-camp primitive sites. The park is open from early May to Columbus Day. Climate - Winter can be cold with average temperatures ranging around 19 degrees Fahrenheit. The cold temperatures humidity bring heavy, water-laden snow to all parts of the state. Spring begins in mid-March and lasts through May. This time of the year is referred to as mud season in the mountains. The sugar is flowing early in the season and wild flowers bloom toward the end of it. Summer is the busiest season of the year for the tourism industry. This is an excellent time to travel, mountain roads are open and most of the mud has dried. Average summer temperatures range around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Fall brings the leaf lookers to see the spectacular colors of the deciduous trees. Expect to see bus loads of people enjoying the crisp fall New England weather. Location -
