Description - This site is described by the State Parks & Recreation commission as one of "Utah's most spectacular state park[s]." It lies high above the Colorado River north of it's confluence with the Green River, providing views eastward and southward of the canyonlands. A variety of recreation opportunities are available from this site as are staff-led programs and interpretive exhibits.

Attractions - This state park facility is comprised of a visitor center, museum, campground, dump station, group camping area, pavilion and large overlook shelter. Exhibits within the visitor center and museum, as well as staff-led programming provide visitors with information about the geology, history, flora and fauna of the area. Hiking trails and four-wheel drive roads are easily accessed from the park.

Recreation - Visitors to Dead Horse State Park will enjoy a variety of recreation opportunities within the park and close by in Canyonlands National Park. Hiking, four-wheel driving, photography, camping, picnicking and viewing exhibits are a few of the opportunities available at this site.

Climate - This region of Utah, like most others, is arid, receiving approximately 12 inches of rain per year. The fall and spring are the most pleasant times to visit Dead Horse State Park, and also the most crowded, with warm days and cool nights. Summer brings very hot days and often a shortage of water. In this season campers are encouraged to fill their water reservoirs before entering the park. In winter expect warm days and very cold nights.

Location - Dead Horse Point lies on Utah State Road 313, 18 miles from U.S. Highway 191 north of Moab. The property lies northwest of the Colorado River and east of the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park.
